About MARATHON CAFE

MARATHON CAFE OFFERS A FAST CASUAL PLACE TO ENJOY YOUR HONG KONG STYLE MILK TEA, LAVA FRENCH TOAST, SANDWICHES AND LUNCH DISHES.

Located at 46-19 Marathon Pkwy, Little Neck, NY 11362, MARATHON CAFE operates as a chinese bbq serving Little Neck in New York. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it. Besides its main category, the business also describes itself as cafeteria, lunch restaurant, so it may cover more than the name suggests.

In cities with a Chinatown, weekend mornings bring dim sum carts or order sheets, and lines form early at the most popular spots in Little Neck; walk-ins are standard and reservations are uncommon outside large banquet restaurants. Regional labels matter: Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Shanghainese and Taiwanese kitchens cook very differently, so a restaurant's stated region is a better guide to the food than the word "Chinese" alone. Some smaller restaurants in New York are BYOB with no corkage fee; call ahead to confirm. A tip of 15-20% is customary for table service but not expected at counter-order takeout. Spice level, MSG and allergen questions are normal to ask before ordering, and most kitchens are happy to leave an ingredient out or tone down the heat if you mention it when ordering rather than after the food arrives.

Hours are published for 2 days a week. On most of those days it is open 11 AM–6 PM. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach MARATHON CAFE at (929) 260-8887; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions.

On Google it holds a rating of 4.6 out of 5 from 258 reviews, which is a strong result for a chinese bbq in Little Neck and suggests consistent service.

This is definitely a hidden gem, away from all the other Asian cuisine in Flushing. I love how homey it feels, partially because they are my people. The older lady waitress is so sweet and adorable. Food tastes great and portions are huge. Every time we come, we have leftovers to take home. It’s also self service so tips not needed. Definitely worth a shot if you’re feeling some Hong Kong cuisine.

OK, I’m finally ready to give my review! I moved to Little Neck earlier this year and have been coming to Marathon Cafe pretty often. I was ready to give it 5 stars after my first few visits, but I wanted to try as many dishes as possible before rushing a review. After several visits, I’d confidently give it 4.5 stars. Here’s everything I’ve tried and what I’d recommend: Beef Macaroni with Egg: A million times YES!!! Believe the hype because it’s every bit as good as everyone says! It’s the ultimate comfort food. The cellentani pasta is an elite choice, cooked perfectly al dente and coated in a sweet, thick, tangy tomato sauce that’s flavorful without being overly acidic. This is an absolute must order! Creamed Corn with Fried Fish: Don’t knock it until you try it! The creamed corn is thick, smooth, and naturally sweet, while the fish is perfectly crispy without being overcooked. It sounds like an unusual combination, but somehow it works incredibly well together. Tom Yum Seafood Noodle Soup: The broth is tangy, slightly sweet, and very comforting. I personally would’ve liked it a bit spicier, but it was still delicious. It also comes with large shrimps and mussels. Rice Rolls

This place is amazing! The staff are extremely friendly and attentive, and there’s no pressure to tip. The portion sizes are generous and definitely worth the money. We tried the fried pork chop and eggplant with garlic sauce — both were delicious. There’s still so much more on the menu I want to try! Their desserts and milk tea are also incredibly tasty. Highly recommend!

So glad to have been recommended Marathon Cafe! I’m a huge fan of HK style cha chaan tang. This spot isn’t too far from me, which makes it even better! Not to mention, service is super friendly and food is simple, yet delish, exactly why I love HK-style grub! Their HK milk tea, sandwiches, cheung fun and fish balls, plus soupy entrees are all amazing. Gotta mention how LOADED their sandwiches are and how unique some items are on their menu - like the bolo bau burger, which I havent tried but will some day!

We wanted to come here for a while because of the many positive reviews online. The experience was fine overall, but it didn’t quite live up to the hype. The Hong Kong–style Coffee was decent and probably the highlight of the meal. We ordered Katsudon (pork cutlet with curry sauce) and Pepper Chop (black pepper pork). The main issue was that both dishes felt very similar. The fried pork cutlet seemed to be the same base for different menu items, with the main difference being the sauce on top. Once you’ve tried one, the others don’t feel very different. The cutlet itself was okay but not especially tender, and the sauces didn’t add enough character to clearly distinguish the dishes. The sides were basic and straightforward. The interior has a very old-school Hong Kong café feel, which might appeal to those who are familiar with or enjoy that style. Overall, the food may suit Hong Kong tastes more, but for us it felt more ordinary than expected. Nothing was bad, but nothing really stood out either. Acceptable, just not quite what the reviews led us to expect.
